The sport helps me cope with depression, bringing light to my otherwise dark days where I can enjoy being physically active with like-minded people to achieve through teamwork an enjoyable game of blasting. Win or lose, these oftentimes strangers work together with good humour and sportsmanship for a fun game. I have lost a significant amount of weight and improved my (mental and physical) health and fitness since taking up this hobby.
This hobby allows me to focus my mind on achieving tangible outcomes when fixing gel blasters. My mind and time is occupied in a positive way while keeping the depression at bay.
I am accepted as an equal and my skills are not questioned, either on the field or in technical expertise. My gender is irrelevant to my skills and this is one place I am accepted without feeling sexualised or objectified or less than.
